This contemporary-classic style 1600 square foot (interior) strawbale home sits comfortably between a large pecan tree and a big boulder. The 3 bedroom, 2 bath home features super-insulated strawbale walls, natural clay plasters interior and exterior, stained concrete floors, photovoltaics, hybrid heat pump water heater, solar tubes for daylighting, efficient lighting, and an age-in-place layout. What makes this project exceptional is the simplicity of its design and the priority placed on using natural, non-toxic and low-embodied-energy materials wherever possible. This home was a collaboration with TnT Builders, Ruland Design Group, and Simple Construct. It was featured on the Green Homes Tour in 2014.
